Conversational Hypnosis - What Is Hypnosis

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I should and will start this article by stating that I am not a professional hypnotist. What I am is an enthusiast and find the subject fascinating. I have put a good amount of research into this little effort all with the hope you will find it as interesting as I have.

Hypnosis, weather conversational or otherwise, seems to have a different meaning to everyone. They will tell you that Hypnosis is an altered state of mind where a person is placed in a trance. But how about “conversational Hypnosis?” There is a description you don’t often see.

I’m going to attempt to compare the two procedures as best I can. Here we go. Let’s take a look at hypnosis first. It is as stated above. A subject is put into a very relaxed environment and state of mind and given a series of suggestions. The more comfortable the subject becomes the more trance like the state of mind. This opens the subject to be very vulnerable to a hypnotic suggestion, however, the idea that a person can be made to do something against their nature is false.

Hypnosis is a tool used by professionals to help a subject better his or her life. Perhaps by releasing a hidden memory or to have the increased will power to stop a bad habit such as smoking or even over eating. It is important to know that even though a subject is made very susceptible to suggestion they will not do things that are not in their nature. Also a professional would never violate ethics by trying to put that type of subliminal suggestion into a subjects thoughts.

Now how about conversational hypnosis? In my research I have found that this is a skill that anyone can learn and use. Some people use conversational hypnosis without even realizing that they are using it. However, strictly speaking it is recognized as a relationship developed between the subject and the professional that transcends normal restraints of typical rapport and develops a deep relationship.

This will save a professional a lot of time when treating a subject. Now for the fun part! I want you to try this next time you meet a person you want to persuade. Perhaps you have been told how difficult a person is to work with. This is my idea of conversational hypnosis and it works just fine.

Now imagine yourself in one of the above described situations. You walk into a prospective client?s office. You notice that he has the typical power setting going on in his office. The desk and chair positioning and tie color and physical posture. He looks up from his compulsively neat desk and loudly acknowledges your presence and points to the chair you should take.

You have just summed up the personality you believe you are dealing with so here you go. Move the chair, if possible, to face the client head on. Now acknowledge him with a THANK YOU in as close to the same tone of voice and volume that he used on you. Believe it or not he won’t even notice so don’t be mislead into the idea that he will think you are being disrespectful. You are not being disrespectful you are setting the tone for a little conversational hypnosis.

Watch his posture and emulate it as much as possible. If he uses strong eye contact you do the same. If he happens to be leaning toward you when he speaks you do the same. This is fun and you will be amazed at what will start to happen.

Suddenly you will realize that you can lead and he will follow. Suddenly you will be able to make a suggestion to him and he will listen. It’s amazing. No, this is not a Jedi mind trick! Why does this happen? It’s the suggestion you are giving him.

This is conversational hypnosis? How does this fit any description of Hypnosis? Think about it. What signals have you been sending since you first met the client? Who is the one person that he will always like above all others?

Did you get it? Somewhere in your conversation his mind simply said ?hey, he is just like me!” Everyone likes themselves and their own ideas above anyone else?s so once the subliminal suggestion is planted ?he is just like me”, you will have a relationship with that client that will have him or her feeling like they have known you all their lives.

I have known sales people that are very good at this Technique and it has proven to be a great benefit to their career. Please remember that just like a subject in a trance like state cannot be made to do things against their nature, it is also true that even though you will develop a long lasting relationship with a client he will not do just whatever you like. All this will do for you is open the door to listening. Your client will be very apt to listen to your presentation because after all “you are just like him” and he would never have anything unimportant to show himself.

Conversational hypnosis can be learned by listening to simple hypnosis audios teachings with an instruction manual. There are various conversational hypnosis online courses that teaches this powerful skill. By learning the covert techniques of influence and persuasion, you will find use for them in almost all everyday situations. Personal Mastery And Improving Your Confidence

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Self- confidence is something that people find difficult to have. There are people who find low self-confidence influences the way they see themselves and their performance. Contrary to what most people think, self confidence is not something that only the gifted and blessed could have. With the help of personal mastery, individuals could now start building on their self-confidence.

Personal mastery is about self-development and self-improvement. It is about loving yourself and accepting yourself as you are. You need to acknowledge your weaknesses and at the same time strengthen them. Personal mastery is about loving yourself.

To attain personal mastery and confidence, it is important to believe in yourself. It is also important to be content with yourself. To develop self- confidence, self-acceptance should occur. Self- acceptance is about accepting not only the good things in life, but also the failures in life.

Aside from self-acceptance what else can you do to achieve self-confidence through personal mastery.

ï Understanding thoughts and emotions- forgetting about a bad habit or behaviour would make us more aware about thoughts and emotions. By becoming aware of our emotions and behaviour, then we will be able to overcome and correct our behaviour. But once you have decided to change habits and behaviour, there are different strategies and methods that you can do gain mastery over them.
ï Self discipline. Changing attitude and behaviour, or even perspective might take a while. Change does not happen overnight. You need to gather enough knowledge and start learning and practicing the skills that you would like to improve and develop.
ï Have a clear vision on what you want to happen in your life. To be able to move forward in your life, then it is important to have clarity. Seeing what you want to have in a clearer image would encourage you to work for it.
ï The choice is yours. You can choose what you want to experience. Doing something important for you and something you love, would give you enough confidence to continue with what you have started.
ï Commitment and trusting. To be able to attain personal mastery for development and growth, you need to trust yourself that you can undergo the process and commit yourself on the process.

When developing self-confidence through personal mastery, we would have to develop some characteristics. We would develop self awareness, which is about our readiness to look at our past, accept it and the same goes for the present. Aside from this, we also develop self-knowledge which is about understanding our past and our attitude. Not only should we understand them but also be able to comprehend the basis for such attitude or experience. Last, we develop self discipline. Self-discipline is about how we make sure that our goals and vision are translated in action and achieved. We need self discipline to make sure that we do not back-out just because of simple and little disappointments and setbacks.

Building self-confidence canít be done on just a snap. Self- improvement can be a never-ending process. There are people who even acknowledge that self-improvement can last even for a life-time. Sometimes, we can only say that we are fully masterful of our life if we have reached our dreams and goals. Personal mastery can help use with growth and eventually with success. We just need to continue with our dreams and be patient.
